Tripinilab launches its label activity with the release of Umwelt. This first release marks the label’s orientation toward immersive musical forms.
Umwelt unfolds as a sensitive journey through natural environments. The piece develops a sound dramaturgy where spatialization is a language. The musical writing develops in layers – acoustic, electroacoustic, electronic – interwoven in a three-dimensional mix.
The spatialization writing was conceived from the composition phase and realized with the tools Sound Trajectory and SpatGRIS, ensuring continuity between the live versions and the mixing studio. These technologies, coupled with Dolby Atmos mixing, make it possible to stream an immersive mix that respects the spatial writing intentions.
Through this first album, Tripinilab initiates a series of upcoming releases that will place a strong emphasis on promoting spatial sound writings that reexamine forms of attention and listening relationships.

Performative piece for piano, cello, electronics, and sound spatialization
42 minutes in 5 parts, premiered on February 3, 2024, at Césaré CNCM in Reims as part of the FARaway festival
Maxence Mercier: composition, piano, synthesizer, electroacoustic setup, and sound spatialization
Amandine Jacquette: composition, cello, electronic processing
Umwelt weaves the sound worlds of emblematic species from the south of France. Cicadas, bats, seagulls, dolphins, fin whales, and sperm whales communicate through sound signals in the same space, each with its own unique perception. The music brings these worlds together, creating a moving sound poetry. This electroacoustic performance explores natural sounds inaccessible to humans, capturing the diversity of acoustic environments. The sound journey takes us from forests to cities, then to the sea, diving into the darkness of the abyss with sperm whales hunting squid. The musicians, inspired by Mediterranean sound languages, use electroacoustic piano and cello to interpret these environments, pushing the boundaries of their instruments. Their performance immerses the audience in the soundscapes of the Mediterranean.
